Boxers Diet - making weight - how?

How does it work - how do boxers fluctuate between being fat like us to being trim ? I mean they must foregoe more than the odd packet of crisps, cookies & do more than the odd 30 min squatt daily + 4 wks excercise session - that I DO?

What are there secrets? Why cant we incorporate them?

I know if they don’t make weight they run in baggy clothes and use saunas to sweat out the last 5 lbs if they must.

I wouldnt recommend it. I had to do it when I was competiting internationally with taekwon-do. i had to make weight categories…. basically you eat very little except bananas, lean protein like chicken, low fibre fruits and veggies, no alcohol, no bread… brown pasta and rice. The food is bland. The portions are small. You’re hungry ALL the time. And on top of that you have to train 4 hours a day! It’s really tough.

Oh and when it comes to weigh ins…. you fast for 24 hours beforehand. No food. No water. Just to make sure you make the weight.

    Nope… it’s not a great diet!

I’m pretty sure that they train pretty much constantly. Remember, like celebrities - their bodies are their livelihood so they can afford and are motivated to make it their number one focus. When they roll out of bed in the morning, they don’t have to worry about getting a work out in before or after work. It IS their job!

I took some Krav Maga once, its source of like a mixture between self defense and kick boxing. More on what they eat, is the exercises that count into making muscle, the classes I took were rigorous in exercises that emphasizes muscle tension..(when you pull and release)when you do a sit up and hold, etc etc.
Unfortunately if you are willing to do such an exercise (which eventually will have to become a career for the muscle structure and how to maintain it, second level would be the consumption of protein), you will have to consume a hell of a lot more food…the more you burn the more you have to eat.
Now also, when you say boxers the majority are men, men develop muscle different than women. Women have more endurance in structure to cardiovascular activity, men are better at weight lifting which builds muscle faster, and their structure (usually bigger backs) allows them to build more muscle upon their also very different metabolism. Sorry if I wrote to much, I like to read a lot. Good Luck!
